After over 20 years in the restaurant and bar industry, lifelong Point Pleasant resident and Special Education Teacher, Bob Leach thought "Hey, how about an ice cream truck?" But it didn't stop there. He thought, "Not just any ordinary ice cream truck, but a soft serve truck that makes shakes, sundaes, and floats...an Ice Cream Parlor on wheels." 

And so the journey began. In the fall of 2011, Bob purchased a truck that he and his father, Curt, along with many other friends and family, would work hard on over the next 3 years to optimize the truck's potential and to develop a "sure-fire" business plan.  

Although Whitecaps Coastal Creamery LLC was founded in March 2012, it would still take over two more years to get the truck ready for business. During this period of restoring the truck, our beloved Jersey Shore was struck hard by Superstorm Sandy. Although this storm slowed down Bob and Curt's efforts in getting the truck ready to do business, it did not dampen their spirits in finding a way to utilize the truck to help the local community recover. So, the truck and its very powerful diesel generator was put to good use by pumping out the basements and crawl spaces of several Sandy victims in Point Pleasant Beach, Point Pleasant, and Bay Head free of charge. The recovery effort put forth by everyone in the community was very inspiring, and influenced Bob to integrate a more community minded and charitable approach into his business plan. 

In July of 2014, Bob finally took to the road as the owner and operator of Whitecaps Coastal Mobile Creamery. And just as envisioned at the outset, today, Whitecaps specializes in serving the highest quality soft serve ice cream available with a plethora of delicious toppings to accompany cones, cups, shakes, sundaes, and floats. Whitecaps also offers water ice as well as every child's favorite pre-packaged novelty items. Additionally, in the summer of 2016, Whitecaps will introduce fresh shaved ice with over ten flavors to choose from.
